ECONOMY NEWS

  • A report by State Comptroller DiNapoli shows that federal funding cuts and stricter immigration rules are hurting Tompkins County farms that got $3.8M in help in 2024 — this may lead to higher market prices and fewer local food options.  14850

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tompkins County Public Library will host the free, IRS-certified Cornell VITA tax program starting Tuesday, Feb. 3 at its Digital Lab, offering in-person appointments on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through April 14. Residents earning $69,000 or less can book appointments via 2-1-1 starting Jan. 26 (requirements apply).  14850

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cornell’s men’s hockey beat Brown 4-2 on Saturday in Providence to complete a road sweep of Brown and Yale. Freshman Gio DiGiulian scored two key goals as coach Casey Jones praised the new first line, and Cornell will next face Colgate in a home-and-home series.  The Cornell Daily Sun
  • Cornell’s women's hockey team lost 3-1 to Harvard in its Ivy League finale. The team tied the score in the first period but could not overcome Harvard’s strong goaltending, and it now will need extra help in conference play as it prepares to host RPI on Feb. 6.  The Cornell Daily Sun
