  • Residents in Tompkins or Cortland County with incomes of $69,000 or less can register for free tax help at the library from Feb. 3 to Apr. 14. Appointments are on Tues (10 to 7), Fri (9 to 5) and Sat (10 to 4), except during spring break Mar. 30 to Apr. 3.  WENY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Robin Guiver, assistant professor at Ithaca College, saw his work featured as the lead movement artist in the new two-part film Wicked, where he portrayed the flying monkey Chistery. He explained in an interview how his film and theater experience now informs his full-time teaching of puppetry skills.  The Ithacan

  • Cornellians for Israel is hosting former IDF soldier Sam Fried in an RSVP-only event today at 5 p.m. on campus to share his Gaza service and discuss his work promoting peaceful dialogue - Cornell Police will be on site to ensure safety.  The Cornell Daily Sun
  • Jerome Holland, the first Black football player at Cornell, became a renowned educator and ambassador who led institutions through key changes.   • Voting opens until noon Thursday, Feb. 5 for Guthrie Athlete of the Week for high school sports Jan. 25-31.   • Cornell’s women’s gymnastics team rescheduled its home meet to Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Teagle Hall, where junior captain Josie Moylan and senior Cami Whitaker tied for first on floor (each scoring 9.800) and then scored fourth in West Virginia; they will face Penn Friday at 7 p.m.  The Cornell Daily Sun
