  • Baruch Whitehead, a music education professor at Ithaca College, received a New York State Senate Commendation award on Feb. 19 for his work with the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers and for blending music with social justice during Black History Month.  The Ithacan

  • Zero Waste Ithaca hosts its first annual community gathering today at the Space at GreenStar Cascadilla at 6 p.m. Residents will learn about cutting waste and plastic pollution while enjoying light refreshments and sharing snacks—attendees must bring reusable utensils as no single-use items will be provided.  Tompkins Weekly

HEALTH NEWS

  • A stem-cell donor registration drive called 'Big Red, Big Impact' will run March 13 to 20 at Cornell University, where organizers hope 10,000 local volunteers ages 18 to 35 will complete a quick cheek swab to join the national registry and help save lives.  14850
