  • Officials issued an alert on April 30 for an 11-year-old girl with curly hair wearing a maroon dinosaur shirt, jeans and pink crocs—she was last seen near Wood rd. and Etna rd in Freeville and authorities asked anyone who sees her to call dispatch at 607-272-2444.  14850

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Disney CEO Bob Iger will attend Ithaca College’s graduation ceremony to receive a Doctor of Letters — the honor comes nearly 50 years after he earned his bachelor’s degree. College President La Jerne Terry Cornish said Iger will speak at the ceremony, which begins at 10 a.m. on May 18 at Glazer Arena.  607 News Now

  • Drivers with electric vehicles in Danby will soon have local access to charging ports — funded by $11,400 in state money — when two charging stations are installed at the town hall as part of New York’s Municipal Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure program.  607 News Now

  • Former acting police chief John Joly retired from the Ithaca Police Department on April 25 after a 25-year career in law enforcement—he joined the force in 2005 and served in roles from SWAT to deputy chief. The department honored his service on Facebook—wishing him luck in his future endeavors.  607 News Now

  • On April 19 at Higgins Stadium, Ithaca College men’s lacrosse beat Clarkson as Lucas Proctor scored a winning goal with 20 seconds left—sending the Bombers into the postseason. The Proctor brothers, who grew up playing together, honor a long family legacy in every game they share.  The Ithacan
  • Junior pole vaulter Robert George returned to competition on April 4 at the Cortland Red Dragon Open after nearly 18 months off due to a back injury—winning his meet in a strong comeback.
