- ➤ A Cornell study published May 6 linked the Indian Ocean Dipole (often called Indian Niño) to nearly 0.3 degrees Celsius of record global heat in 2023 and 2024, as the climate model explained between 92 and 93% of the spikes while human emissions and maritime regulation changes played a role. - ➤ Ithaca police are holding an abandoned vehicle auction with a black 2015 Honda CRV and a black 2016 Hyundai Sonata starting Friday at 10 a.m. at Fingerlakes Towing (154 Cecil Malone Drive near Wegmans) where bids must be paid in cash, cashier’s or certified check. 607 News Now

- ➤ On May 1, a person was bitten by a 12-week-old black pug puppy named Stevie at Ithaca Children’s Garden, prompting Tompkins County health officials to rule out rabies exposure.
