CULTURE NEWS

  • The Ithaca Concert Band will perform a special 50th anniversary concert today at 7 p.m. at Ithaca College's Ford Hall, featuring former directors Beth Peterson + Mark Fonder. The free show + refreshments will follow after the performance.  607 News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The annual Cornell Engineering Alumni Association awards banquet on May 1 at Upson Hall honored members of Cornell Duffield College of Engineering for excellence in teaching, mentorship, research, leadership, and experiential learning.   • Cornell students presented market plans for engineering inventions during the Innovation Collaborative final presentations on May 1 at Gates Hall.   • Students at Ithaca College and Cornell regained access to Canvas Friday morning after a global outage caused by a cybersecurity incident disrupted course materials and exam access on Thursday. Both campuses are monitoring updates as final exams approach.  14850

  • Tompkins County Clerk's Office will host a naturalization ceremony on Wednesday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the Borg Warner Room of the Public Library at 101 E. Green Street in Ithaca; nine candidates (from eight countries) will take the Oath of Allegiance as Korin Kirk speaks.  Tompkins County

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hospicare & Palliative Care Services in Ithaca offers up to six grief counseling sessions for adults and consultations to help caregivers support grieving children, ensuring no one is turned away for lack of funds. Donations are encouraged to sustain these essential services.  607 News Now

  • On Thursday, defending NASCAR Cup Series driver Shane van Gisbergen — a favorite at Watkins Glen — visited Glenora Wine Cellars in Dundee to greet fans and tour the winery ahead of his triple duty race weekend.  WENY
