- ➤ A fire on Kendall Avenue in Ithaca on Friday afternoon left a two-story home extensively damaged and killed two cats while no one was home—firefighters arrived by 3:15 p.m. and controlled the blaze within 10 minutes. The Ithaca Voice

- ➤ Cornell’s Helen Newman Bowling Center on the north campus will reopen on Saturday evening after renovations replaced its automated bowling pin equipment and updated its lighting—manager Kathy Ball said the center held a soft opening this week and will resume its regular schedule next week with group reservations returning in June. 14850
