In Dryden, Laura Lusk has been named the new director of Southworth Library effective July 7—she replaces retiring director Diane Pamel.

Lusk, a longtime local volunteer, plans to work with community groups and local organizations to enhance library programs.

Brian Wansink will host the Rocking the Nursing Home workshop on Saturday, May 31 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Savage Club's Lansing Area Performance Hall to help musicians practice entertaining memory care residents—another session is planned for Saturday, Sept.

Vitale Construction began a sidewalk improvement project on May 19th on the 600 to 800 blocks of Mitchell Street on the east hill, replacing concrete sidewalks, ADA curb ramps and drainage improvements near Belle Sherman Elementary School. Eastbound traffic was closed at Cornell Street from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays until the project is completed on June 6.

TCAT will add five new diesel buses that will replace older ones when they arrive in Ithaca this summer—General Manager Matthew Rosenbloom-Jones previewed them in California and said they will soon be road tested.

He said the transit company will also get new battery-electric buses later this year.
