- ➤ Cornell beat Penn State — winning 11-9 after a five-goal run in the third quarter — to record a program record 17th win while senior CJ Kirst did not score a goal. Maryland held off Syracuse to move into the championship game and will face Cornell on Monday on ESPN. 14850
- ➤ On May 24, Elmira, Union-Endicott and Owego won the Section 4 girls flag football finals at U-E's Ty Cobb Stadium (Elmira beat Ithaca 47 to 7, Union-Endicott overcame Binghamton 27 to 12, and Owego defeated Susquehanna Valley 44 to 6) and each team will play in a state sub-regional round on May 28 at Goshen High School (Elmira faces Middletown, Union-Endicott meets Minisink Valley and Owego takes on Rhinebeck).
