GOVERNMENT NEWS

➤ The state Senate passed the Opioid Patients’ Right to Know Act on May 30 and Albany lawmakers must now bring it to Gov. Hochul for final approval; the bill would require providers to have a brief discussion with patients about opioid risks before issuing initial and third prescriptions. Ithaca Journal

SPORTS NEWS

➤ Ithaca rallied for an 8-7 Class A win at Horseheads High on May 30, and Horseheads took the Class B title 13-3, with Ithaca meeting the Section 3 champion at 5 p.m. and Horseheads facing a Section 2 foe at 7 p.m. on June 3 at Ithaca High. Ithaca Journal
