- ➤ The Ithaca Voice has received a $250,000 grant from The Online Journalism Project to support newsroom salaries, health benefits and equipment needs, plus expand its freelance budget. - ➤ Ithaca Police are searching for vulnerable adult Frederick Parker, last seen on June 2 in a wheelchair and wearing a white t-shirt with a yellow smiley face + pink long-sleeve shirt, tan pants, black boots + blue hat; anyone with information is urged to contact police immediately. 607 News Now
- ➤ Ithaca Police issued a Missing Vulnerable Adult alert for Frederick R. Parker, a 47-year-old Black man in a wheelchair who has been missing since June 2nd after he was seen in a white t-shirt with a yellow smiley face and a pink long-sleeved shirt (worn with tan pants, black boots and a blue ball cap) as police ask anyone with information to call their tipline. 14850

- ➤ Professor Sorin Lerner was named the new dean of Cornell's Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science after the board approved his five-year term on June 2. - ➤ Tompkins County legislators reaffirmed their commitment to the Center of Government when they voted nine to four on June 3 to move forward with the downtown Ithaca project, which is expected to cost up to $50 million — with extra resources planned to ease the taxpayer burden, according to legislator Greg Mezey. Critics, including legislator Travis Brooks, warned that the total cost might exceed the estimate and noted concerns over parking at the North Tioga Street site. 607 News Now

- ➤ Cornell researchers have developed biodegradable polymers with tiny water pockets that warm targeted cells when hit by a near-infrared laser — breakthrough work that could lead to noninvasive diagnostics and treatments such as hyperthermia. - ➤ Tompkins County Whole Health and Catholic Charities Tompkins-Tioga ran a supportive housing program that helped 16 residents last year and expanded services to include new housing for both women and men with plans to add 20 units on State Street in late 2026—offering low-barrier support so residents can move into permanent homes.
