  • Cornell University announced financial austerity measures this week to cut costs amid federal funding cuts and inflation— the plan involves a hiring freeze, program reviews, and possible involuntary layoffs for its 11,285 employees, with details yet to be confirmed.  WSKG

  • Tompkins Community Bank and Ithaca Bikeshare have partnered to expand pedal-assist e-bike access around town, helping more residents choose low-emission rides for work, school, and errands + boost health and cleaner air.  14850

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials said delays in the 2021 audit have come from outdated accounting methods and a short-staffed finance department, and Insero & Co. Partner Duane Shoen explained the firm is nearly finished after working off and on on the audit for three years. The delay led Moody’s to withdraw the city’s credit rating, and leaders plan to complete the remaining audits before issuing future bonds.  The Ithaca Voice
