The National Weather Service in Binghamton issued an Extreme Heat Watch for Central New York including Ithaca, in effect from noon today until 8 p.m. Wednesday; dangerously hot conditions with heat indices up to 105 degrees and strong to severe storms with hail are expected tonight and residents should take precautions.

Cornell University public health experts have launched the Heat Emergency Preparedness Toolkit to help Ithaca residents prepare for extreme summer heat.

New York State was issued a five-day heat watch with feels-like temperatures expected to range between 90 and 110 degrees until June 25th – the toolkit offers specific guidance for households, schools and businesses.

In May, median home listings in Tompkins County dropped to $475,000—2.5% lower than in April, according to Realtor.com data.

Homes stayed on the market for a median of 39 days, which is faster than the national average of 51 days.
