- ➤ The Tompkins County Public Library Board has approved updates to its lending guidelines; starting Friday, August 1, automatic renewals will drop from six to two—items on hold will not renew automatically, and due dates for current checkouts will remain unchanged. The policy also now accepts a residential or work address with a photo ID for new library cards to align with other Finger Lakes libraries. 14850
- ➤ The Tompkins County Public Library is hosting a week of free summer programs that start today with 'Sit! Stay! Read!' from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Teen Maker Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.—later events include Makerspace hours, LEGO Family Build Night, a creative writing workshop, lab tours, a circus performance, a blood drive and Family Storytime. 14850

- ➤ In early spring, coltsfoot blooms in local woods and its small yellow flowers look like dandelions but show no leaves while in bloom. Later, heart-shaped leaves grow to confirm it is coltsfoot, a non-native plant brought by early European settlers for medicine + it attracts pollinators. Ithaca Journal
