CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On August 19, Ahmed Abed, aged 44, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for intentionally killing his wife at their Ithaca home last November as three of the four children testified at the hearing, with the district attorney stating that the maximum sentence was necessary for the brutal crime. - ➤ An Ithaca man was indicted on charges of second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence for the stabbing death of 54-year-old Edward Warren on July 24 on Elmira Road—he is now held at Tompkins County Jail without bail. The Ithaca Voice
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Ithaca Tompkins International Airport will add a third daily flight to Washington Dulles in October, giving travelers more choices when visiting the capital — funding comes from a federal grant and local partnerships. - ➤ Ithaca College may settle a class action lawsuit from a student who claims the school breached its contract by switching to remote learning in spring 2020 due to COVID-19.
