- ➤ Renowned music producer Fred Mollin will promote his book Unplugged at Buffalo Street Books today at noon in Ithaca—he will share insights from his long career in music production. 607 News Now
- ➤ Québécois folk band Le Vent du Nord will perform in the Dallas Morse Coors Concert Series at Bailey Hall on Cornell campus on Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The group is a leading force in Quebec’s folk music—drawing on both traditional tunes and original songs for an energetic live show. - ➤ Tompkins County Legislator Shawna Black urged drivers to slow down because school is back in session and many kids are biking and walking, saying vehicles must stop when buses flash their lights. - ➤ The City of Ithaca announced Friday morning that a resurfacing project began on West Buffalo Street for the 400 and 500 blocks between Plain and Meadow Streets, and those blocks remain closed for milling and paving until Thursday, September 11. Westbound traffic detours via North Albany Street onto West Seneca Street while only emergency vehicles are allowed. 14850

- ➤ Cornell researchers in Ithaca have developed a vibration-induced flow chip that automates cumulus cell removal from oocytes for fertility treatments—tests on mouse oocytes showed the device processed up to 23 eggs without damage and may lower costs in clinics with fewer skilled staff. REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Last week, the Ithaca Planning and Development Board approved demolishing the old Summit apartment building at 201 Oak Avenue to make way for a new 46-unit multifamily building with public improvements—construction is underway and scheduled to finish in July. The board also approved a senior housing and daycare project at 205 West State Street that will offer 56 one-bedroom units and begin construction in August if funding is secured. Ithaca.com
