- ➤ The Ulysses Philomathic Library will host its Big Library Bash on Sept. 13 at East Main Street in Trumansburg, where families will hear live music from local band Peregrine—offering face painting, a magic show, and snacks—and get library updates. - ➤ IthacaTrails.org has been redesigned to offer 75 trail experiences with advanced filtering and real-time trail conditions for hikers exploring Ithaca and Tompkins County—Nick Helmholdt said the new mobile-friendly site helps residents and visitors plan their outdoor adventures. Ithaca Journal

- ➤ Trumansburg’s Hazelnut Kitchen will close on Thursday, October 30—Chef Matt Hummel said he plans to step back to focus on his family and future plans. The restaurant will reopen on September 18 to serve dinner through Saturday until its final closing date. 14850
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Ithaca School Board voted 5-4 on Sept. 9 to extend superintendent Luvelle Brown’s contract until June 30 as officials stressed the need for stable leadership amid budget challenges. Some community members opposed the vote and asked for more public input—board members said the decision supports future restructuring. Ithaca.com
- ➤ Six Cornell inventors have been selected for the spring 2025 Ignite Innovation Acceleration program—which offers up to $50,000 to advance early-stage projects in robotics, advanced materials, agriculture, biotechnology and AI for medical education and veterinary medicine.
