- ➤ Students from Cornell’s Hack4Impact team delivered a new scheduling tool to Ithaca Community Recovery to simplify managing over 200 monthly support group meetings and update details automatically—helping volunteers and community members better track meeting times at the downtown facility. - ➤ The Coddington Road Community Center is nearly complete and asks residents (Ithaca, Danby, Caroline, Brooktondale, and South Hill) for feedback on its outdoor space design in collaboration with the Cornell Architecture, Art, and Planning team. - ➤ On Oct. 23, a ceremony at Meshri Family Auditorium in Baker Laboratory Room 200 will honor Héctor Abruña with the 2025 Dreyfus Prize in the Chemical Sciences—H. - ➤ Ithaca College has postponed its tuba and euphonium student recital originally scheduled for today at 7 p.m. at the Hockett Family Recital Hall— the event is now set for Oct. 27 and will be free and open to the public. 607 News Now
- ➤ School lockouts ended today after districts went into precautionary action when they received a threat email early this morning—law enforcement found no ongoing danger and the local sheriff’s office is increasing patrols to ensure safety. 607 News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ithaca Mayor Robert Cantelmo formed a committee on Friday to study how much city officials should be paid—this group of five, including three citizen voters and two nonvoting council members, will review pay practices and hold a public hearing before giving an update by Nov. 1. The Ithaca Voice
- ➤ In June, NYSEG filed a request with the PSC to raise delivery rates by 35% for electricity and 39.4% for gas so it can cover costs for storm management and upgrading aging systems. The commission will hold public hearings tomorrow at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Ithaca Town Hall and virtual hearings on Oct 21—residents are encouraged to share their input. Ithaca.com
- ➤ Representatives for Flock Safety are in Ithaca tonight at the Tompkins County Legislature meeting at 5:30 p.m. at 121 East Court Street—community members can share privacy concerns over the company's use of license plate readers and security cameras. Flock states that only its contracted law enforcement partner views the data and that it does not store any information, noting its technology helped locate a 91 year old in late August. 607 News Now
- ➤ Older adults can pick up free NYSEG energy-saving kits to lower energy costs at the Tompkins County Office for the Aging at 214 West State Street in Ithaca — each kit includes outlet and switch gaskets, door sweeps, spray foam, and window insulation and is available to residents 60 and over during business hours Monday through Friday. 607 News Now

- ➤ Tompkins County Whole Health has partnered with Guthrie Lourdes Cancer Services to offer free breast cancer screenings using a mobile mammography van in Ithaca (55 Brown Rd.) on October 29 from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. (women 40 and older are eligible). 14850
- ➤ Integrative Oral Health is offering free dental care for veterans until November 11 and any veteran can call to schedule an appointment for cleaning, exam, x-ray, filling or extraction—appointments will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. 607 News Now
