  • Ithaca’s abandoned SouthWorks factory hosted the inaugural Mural Jam festival on Oct 4 and 5 — ten local, regional and national artists painted murals, held workshops and led artist talks on the 820,000 square feet venue. The event marked an early step in plans to repurpose the site into a mixed-use space with housing and new businesses.  The Ithacan

  • Ten high school athletes from Horseheads, Corning, Norwich, Tioga, Trumansburg, Watkins Glen, Binghamton, Elmira and Whitney Point are nominated for Guthrie Athlete of the Week for Oct. 5-11 with public voting closing at noon on Oct. 16; nominations for Oct. 12-18 are due by 6 p.m. on Oct. 18 and last week's winner Ayla Young received 53.2% of 17,042 votes.  Ithaca Journal
