- ➤ On Oct. 18, the Ithaca College Community gathered near Terrace 13 for the largest yet IC Runs Purple 5k Run — a walk and run hosted by the Office of Public Safety to raise funds for the Tompkins County Advocacy Center during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. - ➤ Story House Ithaca is hosting an immigrant stories open mic to celebrate National Immigrants Day tomorrow from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at The Komonz Grill on the Commons—participants can share five-minute stories or listen, while Middle Eastern food is available and donations support local legal aid and bail funds for immigrants. 14850
- ➤ The TCPL Foundation will host a costume-optional literary-themed Halloween party on October 31 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Tompkins County Public Library to celebrate the Green Street location's 25th anniversary—guests will enjoy drinks, a dessert bar, a costume contest, games and live music to raise funds for library programs. 14850

- ➤ Ten high school athletes were nominated for Guthrie Athlete of the Week for Oct.19th to 25th with nominees coming from Ithaca, Lansing, Horseheads, Corning, Seton CC, Union-Endicott, Maine-Endwell, Forks, Watkins Glen and Notre Dame. Voting runs through noon Thursday, Oct.30th while nominations for Oct.26th to Nov.1st will be emailed by 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov.1st (this award recognizes standout performances in sports such as football, soccer, volleyball and tennis).
