- ➤ Thanksgiving and harvest feasts are planned around Ithaca and Tompkins County this November, with Antlers Restaurant serving turkey dinners on Thanksgiving Day — and community groups hosting free meals and Harvest Fest events at GIAC, The Salvation Army and Beacon Events & Catering. - ➤ The Feed FLX Pets initiative in Tompkins County is collecting donations to help pet owners manage cost-of-living expenses during federal benefit cuts amid a government shutdown—donations will be given to local food pantries and blue food sharing cabinets with drop-offs at Meadowridge Vet Hospital in Groton, Cayuga Pet Hospital in Ithaca, Alex Cole Paving in Lansing, and Cornerstone Vet Hospital in Ithaca. 607 News Now

- ➤ On November 7, Ithaca community members gathered for an exhibit reception at the Community School of Music & Arts to celebrate Latine and Hispanic artists hosted by the Latino Civic Association of Tompkins County. - ➤ A Cornell and Stanford team used a Cornell-built instrument—an ultrafast electron diffraction device—to capture how atoms in thin material layers twist in sync when struck by light. - ➤ Cornell researchers led by PhD student Frances K. Clark found that random gene action and tissue growth join to form cell patterns in plants. They used detailed images and computer models — a study published Nov. 3 showed that giant cells form from these random starts. Cornell Chronicle
- ➤ Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences received a $5M grant from NYSERDA to build solar panel arrays at its Ithaca campus and a Hudson Valley research lab for agrivoltaics research. - ➤ TC3 will sign an agreement with Syracuse University on November 18 in Dryden that guarantees local community college students who earn an associate's degree with a 3.0 GPA a spot in SU's College of Professional Studies at reduced tuition. - ➤ Ithaca City School District is proposing a three-year contract that would extend teachers' classroom time to 7 hours 20 minutes each weekday except Wednesday—retroactive pay raises for this school year are also included.
