- ➤ Ithaca’s abandoned SouthWorks factory hosted the inaugural Mural Jam festival on Oct 4 and 5 — ten local, regional and national artists painted murals, held workshops and led artist talks on the 820,000 square feet venue. - ➤ Ten high school athletes from Horseheads, Corning, Norwich, Tioga, Trumansburg, Watkins Glen, Binghamton, Elmira and Whitney Point are nominated for Guthrie Athlete of the Week for Oct. 5-11 with public voting closing at noon on Oct. 16; nominations for Oct. 12-18 are due by 6 p.m. on Oct. 18 and last week's winner Ayla Young received 53.2% of 17,042 votes.
