Good morning, Ithaca.

On November 24, State Senator Lea Webb announced $100,000 in emergency food relief equipment grants for local nonprofits—funds that groups like Seven Valleys Health Coalition and Catholic Charities used to buy a pickup truck and generators to protect food supplies during outages and other emergencies.

The Hector Playground Project is raising money to build an accessible playground behind the Hector Fire Department and plans to break ground within the next year.

The group will hold a Giving Tuesday fundraiser on December 2 that will trigger a $25,000 matching gift from Corning Inc. CEO Wendell Weeks and his wife if at least 25 donations of $25 are received — this effort follows a recent $25,000 match from Shea’s Play Fund and has raised over $80,000 so far.

At Ithaca College, disabled students formed the Disabled Students’ Alliance to support peers who face challenges with campus access and bias — they meet Thursdays in Friends Hall room 301.

The group will ask officials to improve facilities and policies — so every student can get fair treatment.
