About this event

Ithaca Waldorf School's Parent Council invites families with children of all ages to our annual public Lantern Walk. This is a traditional autumn celebration held as the days get shorter and the nights grow longer. It is a celebration that inspires a connection to the rhythms of nature, community, and the light within. We light our luminaries and sing special songs to bring the light deep into our hearts as a way to carry it with us through the long dark days of winter.

This year our event will be located at Ithaca Children's Garden. We'll gather at the main entrance at 6pm for a short story and then walk a path through the garden, lit only by luminaries and the starry sky.

Please bring: your walking feet (this celebration has a calm, meditative mood), sturdy footwear, warm clothing, a lantern if you have one, and your singing voice! You can find links to recordings of our traditional songs on Ithaca Waldorf School's website.

Please keep tucked away: cellphones, and loud voices--this event is most magical when the songs and the lights in the darkness make the most vivid impressions.
